Public Biography

Lowell Pruett is a content producer in Sunnyside, Queens, and the founder of Slop Nation, an advocacy organization devoted to reclaiming the term “A.I. slop” as an expression of pride. He has published an estimated 1.2 million computer-generated images, e-books and inspirational captions since at least the third quarter of 2023, a body of work he has described as “a catalog, not a portfolio.”

Mr. Pruett was born in 1979 in Utica, New York, and graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He spent nineteen years as a property and casualty claims adjuster for a regional insurer, a period he now refers to as “the manual years.” He left the firm in 2023, shortly after a supervisor described an automated damage estimate he had submitted without review as “slop,” and has since worked full time on what he calls “output.”

He operates a network of 212 social media pages, most of them devoted to images of elderly veterans, rustic cabins under snow, and children presenting sculptures they did not make, and has self-published approximately 1,400 e-books. The latter include a nine-volume history of the Byzantine Empire produced over a single weekend in March 2026, a series of regional cookbooks for cities he has not visited, and an illustrated guide to North American mushrooms that a mycological society in Vermont has asked him, in writing, to withdraw.

In August 2026 Mr. Pruett incorporated Slop Nation in New York State. In October 2026 he appeared before the Transportation Committee of Queens Community Board 2 to request a street activity permit for the Queens SlopWalk, a march along Skillman Avenue, where he placed the movement in a line of descent from the reclamation of “queer” and “slut,” movements he said he had studied closely, in summary form. The committee tabled the application.

He lives on 47th Street in Sunnyside with a cat whose portrait he has generated, by his estimate, forty thousand times.
